Date - Spring 2008 -
Essentials Educational Services and Products opens African-American
Reading Room and WiFi Cafe. The community can make faxes, copies,
browse a sizable selection of books, sit in a cordial environment
and read or buy one of Intisar's Gourmet Dessert specially made
cakes, cookies and pies. Don't forget to stop over at EZ MiniMart.
Located at 121 Wilbraham Avenue right near EZ MiniMart.
Date - Winter 2007 -
Intisar's Gourmet Desserts now has a home. The company opened up EZ
MiniMart which is located at 119 Wilbraham Avenue, across from MCDI near AIC and Springfield College. We sell beef patties, and all of Intisar's popular desserts including double chocolate cookies, Circle of Abundance cookies, bean pies, mixes, spices and more. Stop in between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Proud Me program in Hartford, CT a success. Conceived by Ms. Evette Moore to celebrate the wealth of talent and positive abilities in our community this daylong event feature music, dance, and education. Art programs were directed by Diane Makini Bilal, Renay Jihad, and Mary Ingram.
Date - Summer 2006 Cleo Graham speaks at many venues throughout the Providence, Rhode Island area promoting her new book. Book is now in its third printing.
Date - Summer 2006 Dhafir Jihad, Musician "Tributes" CD graduates from Sanford Brown Institute with a 4.0 average. CONGRATULATIONS!
Date - Summer 2006 - Diane Makini Bilal
participated in the International Festival of Arts and Ideas providing
a Face Off and Mandela workshop in New Haven, CT.
Date - Summer 2006 - Author Renay Jihad has two new books being released this summer: Scarves and Bandanas, popularly received by her 7th grade students this year and The Red Dot - IdioThinkcratic stories that will make you laugh and think.

Educational Services and Products meet with NBPTS and Digital Edge
Coordinators to review footage and text for project. Fourteen
teachers participated along with representatives from four
colleges. New teachers, novice practitioners, colleges,
universities and parents will be able to access the data base of
teaching lesson and "greatest hits" once our projects
are published online. Presently the Interchange gets nearly two
thousand hits a day.

at the 30th annual National Alliance of Black School Educators
in Atlanta, Georgia for one of 600 African-American National

Educational Evaluations Systems, Inc testing and review
staff to review new teacher tests in Marlborough, Ma at
the Radisson Hotel. Nearly 150 teachers from across the state
were in attendance representing various academic
disciplines.

were exhibit at the
Hatikva
Holocaust Center
in Longmeadow, Ma. Student writings were also on display. Fifty-five
Hope Quilts have been donated to victims families.

Hope
Quilts Take On A Life of Their Own.
Fifty
Hope Quilts were made this year by area students in response to the
recent events of 9/11. Students wrote nearly 50 poems all giving
prayers, wishes of hope for peace and condolences to the victims of

Teachers Receive Mentoring Services
Essentials
Educational Services Director Renay Intisar Ingram is coordinating
the mentoring program at her school, Chestnut Accelerated Middle
School. More than 25 teachers will benefit from the coordinated
efforts by the administrators, the Mass. Dept. of Education and
other teachers and professional development organizers. New teacher
retention is the has been deemed the number one priority on the part
of the MDOE (Mass. Department of Education). Teacher Mary Hill and
Sharlene Silverman are also helping with this wonderful opportunity
to assist teachers in adjusting to the exhilarating job of teaching
youngsters in a middle school setting.

Poet
Renay Ingram spoke on Sunday - October 14, 2001 to students who are
receiving their masters degree in human services about the recent
tragedies of 9/11. She read from her books and sold them to a
receptive audience.
